Youth Services Fall 2010 Programs: birth - 5th grade

REGISTRATION
Resident registration begins Saturday, September 4, in person at the library.  All resident children must have a valid library card to present upon registration.  (Residents are from Alsip, Merrionette Park, and Garden Homes.)  Non-resident open registration begins Saturday, September 11, in person at the library.  There will be additional fees for non-resident patrons.

Day cares may not sign up together as a group.

PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
Registration is required.  Programs start September 20 and run through October 23.  

Mother Goose Time
Birth-23 months with caregiver
Mondays from 10-10:30 am
This program is designed for babies as an introduction to the library. Stories, music, nursery rhymes, and unstructured play will be shared by all. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

Toddler Time
Ages 2-3 with caregiver
Tuesdays 10-10:30 am
Books, songs and fingerplays, as well as sensorimotor activities, are centered on weekly themes. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

Toddler Art 
Ages 2-4 years with caregiver
Thursdays from 10-10:30 am
Come join us with your little one for a story, songs, and a process-oriented art project too! Please come dressed to get a little messy; plastic smocks will be provided. Non-resident is $5 per child.

Story Soup    
Ages 2-5 years with caregivers
Wednesdays from 10:30-11:15 am
Each week we will enjoy tasty stories and learn easy cooking skills while preparing a simple snack. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

Story Time  
Independent 3-5 year olds, not yet in Kindergarten
Tuesdays from 2-2:30 pm
Preschoolers can enhance their pre-reading and social skills as we enjoy stories, music, and simple crafts. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Programs run September 20 through October 23. Registration is required for all programs.

Tale Time

Kindergarten-2nd graders
Tuesdays from 3:45-4:15 pm
Jump into the fall season with activities, games, songs, and crafts to encourage reading and language development. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

Travel Club  
K-4th graders
Wednesdays from 3:45-4:15
Each week learn about a different destination from around the world. Make a craft based on that day's destination and sample food from that country. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

BINGO
K-5th graders
Fridays, Sept. 24, October 8 & 22 from 3:45-4:30 pm
Come to the library and play BINGO! Non-resident fee is $3.

Kidzread Book Club
3rd-5th graders
Thursdays from 3:45-4:15 pm
Join us as we mix books, games, crafts, and other hands-on activities each week. Non-resident fee is $5 per child.

Scrapbooking     
Grades 3 and up
Mondays from 3:45-4:15 pm
Each week bring several photos, and your imagination, as we create a 12" x 12" scrapbook page. All other supplies will be provided, except for a scrapbook. Non-resident fee is $5.

Art Class
Grade 5 and up
Day and Time to be announced.
Learn drawing, cartooning, and lots more in this art class for kids that will feature different materials and techniques. All materials provided. Non-resident fee is $5.

Family Fun Night
All ages
Mondays from 7-7:30 pm
Join us as we present a different activity, theme, or event each week.

10/18-Family Magic Show (first come, first served. See below.)
Non-resident fee is $1 per week.

Movie Madness     All ages
Saturdays, October 2 & 16 at 10:30 am
Check in at the library to see what our featured film will be.

Drop in Craft
All ages
Tuesdays from 6-9 pm, or Fridays, All day
While supplies last, stop by the Youth Services Department and pick up a craft to make on your own in the library. Registration is NOT required.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
These programs are offered on a first-come, first -served basis. Residents can pick up tickets 30 minutes prior to the performance. Each person attending must have a ticket to enter. Program attendance is limited to 100 people. Non-resident fee is $1 per child.

BMX Show
All ages
Saturday, September 25 at 2 pm
BMX Champion, Matt Wilhelm, performs amazing stunts while speaking about character-building topics. He has that "Cool Factor" that kids can relate to while being entertained.

Dennis Watkins -- Family Magic Show
All ages
Monday, October 18 at 7 pm
This show will be sure to delight and amaze any audience. Dennis will perform comedy and magic not to be missed!

Bump in the Night
All ages
Monday, October 25 at 7 pm
Reid Miller's "Bump in the Night" program features songs like "Walking Through the Graveyard," and stories like "Wiley and the Hairy Man," and "Jack and the Haunted House."
